Sinossi: Quando sua madre  muore, Ian Harding rimane solo al mondo a 26 anni. Incapace di comprendere le emozioni umane di base, prende la decisione di togliersi la vita in radura in una foresta ma per caso scopre il corpo senza vita di una liceale. C’è qualcosa in lei e nel suo biglietto d’addio che lo colpisce profondamente, così da decidere di portare il corpo della ragazza a casa. Dorme serenamente di fianco a lei e per la prima volta riesce a immaginarela possibilità di amare e di trovare una ragione di vita. Ian seppellisce il corpo della ragazza sotto un ciliegio in fiore. Nel tentativo di ricreare le stesse emozioni, Ian organizza un incontro con Tina, una giovane casalinga con istinti suicidi, che conosce su internet. Ian trova la serenità nella compagnia del suo corpo senza vita e sembra capire sempre più a fondo la complessità dell’amore. Incomincia piano piano a relazionarsi con il mondo esterno, finché ancora una volta è costretto a seppellire il corpo della donna sotto il ciliegio. Poi Ian incontra Naomi, una bella ragazza il cui figlio è deceduto in un incidente stradale…

Synopsis: When Ian Harding’s mother dies, he is left all alone in the world at the age of 26. Unable to understand basic human emotions, he takes the decision to end it all in a snowy forest clearing but through a bizarre chance encounter, he discovers the lifeless body of a schoolgirl. Something about her, and her suicide note, resonates deeply within him, and Ian decides to bring her body home. He sleeps peacefully by her side and for the first time his eyes are open to the possibility of love and a reason to live. He buries her body under a cherry blossom tree at the end of his garden. Searching for an opportunity to experience the same emotions, Ian manipulates an encounter with Tina, a young suicidal housewife, whom he meets over the internet. Ian finds peace in her lifeless company and discovers a burgeoning understanding of the complexities of love. He slowly begins to engage with the outside world, until once again he is forced to bury her body deep below the cherry blossom tree. Ian then meets Naomi, a beautiful young woman whose son’s life was taken in a car crash…
