Fantafestival: dates, locations and poster of the 44th edition

Fantafestival, the longest-running Italian event dedicated to horror, fantasy and science fiction cinema and culture, has announced the dates and location of the 44th edition. The historic Roman festival will take place from Wednesday November 27th to Sunday December 1st at Spazio Scena (Spazio Cinema Eventi e Nuove Arti della Regione Lazio), in Via degli Orti d’Alibert 1/c, in Rome. Five days of cinema, books, comics and fantastic culture which will see the awarding, during the closing evening, of the Golden Bats to the Best International Short Film and the Best International Feature Film.

Fantafestival is also glad to announce the renewal of the precious collaboration with Bugs Comics, a young but already established publishing house founded in 2015. The Bugs Comics network embraces all aspects of Italian comics at 360 degrees, from a solid teaching that arises within the publishing house, up to the publication of comics on newsstands, bookshops and comic shops. The Roman publishing house, already a partner of the festival in 2018, returns to create the poster for the 2024 edition thanks to the brushes of one of the artist of its creative staff: Federico Perrone, author of the drawings for Bugs for the “Racconti dal Derryleng” series, “Galdor” and “Samuel Stern – Il Canto di Natale”.

The poster of the 44th edition of Fantafestival transforms, in a pop and ironic way, the hypothetical advertising graphics of a food product, into the advert for the perfect breakfast for fans of horror and science fiction. The box featuring the iconic bat logo contains imaginary creatures, abominable monsters and robots with which the festival will try to satiate its audience’s hunger for the fantastic. After all, breakfast is the most important and monstrous meal of the day!

Many events, short films and feature films will take place during the 2024 edition of the Roman event, which will bring the best of international fantastic productions to the Spazio Scena screen. Among the new features this year, the first day of the festival will open with a meeting between production companies and the authors of the projects selected at FantaPitch, the first pitch dedicated to the fantastic genre.

Federico Perrone

Born in 1998. Insert coin. After completing his studies at the “Carlo Levi” Art School in Matera, as in a “Metal Gear” campaign, he enrolled in the three-year “Grafite” school, where he added dexterity points to his skills. Shortly afterwards he created his first graphic novel “La fame” (Ottocervo); in the meantime he works on the connecting stories of episodes 2,3,4 and 5 of “I racconti dal Derryleng” (Bugs Comics) and on the special “Heavy Bone e Zartana” (Heavy Comics). Having added other experience points, he works on the “Galdor” volume and on some cover illustrations at Bugs. This year you can see his works in the volume “Galdor 2” and in the Christmas special of “Samuel Stern” (Bugs Comics).
